Migrating WordPress to a Custom-Coded Website
Exclusive Image
Moving our own site off WordPress to a custom-coded build cut desktop page-speed scores from a failing 15/100 to a near-perfect 99 — and we caught and fixed a broken page the same day it was found.
Our own site, held to the same standard we build to
Exclusive Image is the agency itself — this is our own marketing site, and the build we point prospects to as the reference implementation of our design and technical standards.
The prior WordPress build was flagged critical in one of our own recent internal reports: a Google page-speed score of 15/100 on desktop and 20/100 on mobile — a site that would fail any technical audit we'd run for a client.
What we built
A full migration off WordPress, plus a plan to route every old page to its new equivalent and a post-launch check for anything broken.
- Full migration from WordPress to a custom-coded build on Cloudflare Pages
- A plan to send visitors from every old page (about 50 in total) to its new equivalent, so nothing broke
- A full technical check within one week of launch to catch anything broken
- Caught one old page that stopped working after the move — found and fixed it the same day
- The site loads quickly and responds immediately to clicks, by every technical measure we track
Results
